Making my way through this part.

So, yeah, a lot more world building in the novel than the show, like details about the city, the goblins being slaves. Though the recent chapters are settling more into the character pieces that were in the show, fighting goblins, sleeping on the bunks, mapping out the ruined city.

I don't remember the black belly vs pale comments from Ranta towards Manato, but I feel like I do remember Shihoru standing up for him. Shihoro is still a bit diminutive, but I think the running gag of her speaking something bad under her breath about Ranta wasn't in the show, and it kind of shows that she isn't just the "innocent" one, she has opinions.

And so the shipping battles began. And judging by the comments here (and what I know from the show), one ship is about to end rather abruptly in this section. T.T

Well, I haven't found one good one for the phone browsers, but I did find one for Chrome on the computer called Web Page Reader TTS Text to Speech. Some of the other extensions require copy pasting or they don't recognize that they need to transition to the next blocked out piece of text, but this one you can manually transition between the paragraphs by pressing the "Next" icon every time the text stops being read.

I also found a good app for reading the downloaded premium books for Android called Ereader Prestigio that'll read the text with one button press.

I wasn't paying attention to the tags when I clicked on the book, but yeah, sis con / bro con I find offputting (the girl that works at the school paper seems totally sensible with her criticism, but I guess we're supposed to hate her attitude?). I thought Kuroha was going to be a foil to that trope, but now she's falling into the cliche (but being a Tsundere about it). Maybe they won't go full sis con, and it's more admiration than out and out lust or anything, nothing she would act on.

Also, much like "When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace", instead of the author really pushing to attack the less fortunate attitudes of Otaku culture (Chuuni ramblings in WSBBC, sis con tropes here), now they're trying to spread Moe and siscon narratives. I thought this'd be more of a subversion / critique of tropes than a celebration of them or movement toward acceptance of the narratives, but we'll see where they go from here. It'd be much more interesting if the brother + Yuzu were unwittingly opposed to Kuroha's literature loves, and Kuroha schemed to change the future.

Also, does Kuroha not see that this is the start of the Orthodox movement? I guess love is blind. :sunglasses:

Edit: One thing I will give Gin in his argument, there are a lot of great anime stories that are scoffed at by others and buried because of tropes and attitudes they have built up about their worth. I'm not saying all the stuff is a work of art, but I think stuff like Attack on Titan is on par with The Walking Dead, and even some of anime's faults get excused in other works (speaking of siscon, how about Game of Thrones? Arrested Development?). Rant over. :zipper_mouth:

Can't be that one! It had barely started when Siskan vol. 1 was published.

Although it's not particularly obvious because this is a timeless classic, this is one of the older series we have and started back in 2010.

It's supposed to be "Aburaamu." Any use of "Abraamu" in Part 3 was in error and I will correct it shortly.

There's a line in this section of the prepub (part 3) where Kuroha says "What is is now" instead of "What is it now".

@Sam-Pinansky Yeah, I've heard that it was planned as a mixed media project from the beginning. Like I said, I just thought it was neat to see how their designs have changed... Even if it's only slightly. :shrug:

Actually, I think I said it elsewhere, but it's pretty cool that Overlap was making videos in the first place.

I loved the prologue(s) for this. I can't wait to see how much trouble Rekka and R get into. Their banter is great too.

So much frothy silly fun! I'm impressed by the pacing, the story just zips along without taking so much as a breath. I hope it does well enough for you guys to keep translating the volumes, I wouldn't have any problems with another 15+ volumes!

I'm a little scared of how Mutsuko gets her funding, lol. Kinda wish they'd try finding an isekai or going to another country, but Aiko's home could be pretty cool.

Great start! Ria's devil is an enigma... At first I was wondering if he was one of those hypnotic things the Bavarian Illuminati talked about in the last novel, but given his reaction to the doctor's death, I don't think so. Also, I guess Shun is either deep undercover or with the bad guys. Which surprised me, given where I left off from the anime (episode 4, need to catch up). Edit- I'm rewatching episode 2 now... I had forgotten a few things regarding Shun, and I picked up on a few things I missed before reading the novel.

@Sam-Pinansky, I couldn't see the cover in either the app or the web version. Are you guys getting the english cover ready or is it a bug on my end?

Finished this and loved it. Much better than the first episode of the anime. I actually got a feel for all of the characters, and there are definitely some interesting plot lines and teases going on. Ryotasu in particular is pretty suspicious...

I took a break from the show after episode 4, but I should really rewatch from the first episode and catch-up.

I love to imagine this series with an anime adaptation. Every time Yuichi flashes back to some bizarre thing Mutsuko made him do in the middle of an ordinary conversation, the image flashes before my eyes.
