Still catching up on other translations, but I was really hoping volume 2 would be starting sooner than later. Really enjoyed this one.

Elizabeth, if you want to stop being mistaken for a man, you could try not going out of your way to look like one. Stop padding your waist and shoulders, maybe let the puppies out a little, and shift your look to "handsome lady knight". Otherwise I don't think you can really complain when people see you as what you're presenting as.

I hope Inami actually needs Aoi for more than continuing to be his fake boyfriend.

@LightningLeaf If this were Bookworm, Reiner would be gone and probably executed. Hell if this were real life he'd have been fired. Kariya is such a nice guy.

Can't guys named Reiner not be jerks for once? Please?

Kariya is pretty much demisexual, yeah.

Just finished reading the volume...I was expecting more from the first contact with Ms Maker, overall the volume ended up disappointing.

Psoriasis is a bitch, even in modern times 😬
The peals were most certainly planted there for her to make a big deal of providing to the village during the festival...

Those assumptions would explain a lot. Psoriasis is a genetic (noncontagious) skin disorder, and it seems to have been common in their royal family. People at the time probably knew it was a common thing, but wouldn't necessarily know it's not contagious (the princess might). Even if they knew it was genetic, they'd want to shun those with the condition because they don't want it passed down.

The princess likely knows more about it than anyone else if it's common in her family, so she knows it'll get steadily worse. She knows that while her fellow exiles will be grateful for a while, there's only so much goodwill that can be shown to someone whose condition grows progressively more debilitating and thus cannot work in a new settlement. So she comes up with a scheme to protect herself. She probably took a chest full of pearls with her when she left the palace, meaning to use them as funds for the exiles. In order to make herself a contributing member of the village, she buried the chest in the ocean, and then leaned on the "beloved by the god of the sea" tales to design a ritual that gives her an excuse to retrieve some of them. That way, the villagers will never turn on her.

Perhaps she intended to reveal the chest at the end of her life, but some other girl started developing psoriasis. Not wanting the girl to be abandoned, she takes her in, teaches her the ritual, the location of the chest, and tells her to continue passing the knowledge down to anyone else who gets the disease, as it'll likely continue to show up if there are others genetically predisposed towards getting it. Their isolation is partially imposed to quarantine them, and partially welcomed so they can more easily keep their secrets.

Now of course, a chest full of pearls can last for a while if you take 2-3 every year, but it's not infinite. After a century or so, it's probably running low. I suspect that's why the old priestess is so willing to break the rules and give Hugo hints as to how to rescue his sister. They can only keep this up for a few more years, and she doesn't want to know what happens when they "lose the favor of the god of the sea".

(Part 2) I was wondering where this promised stat buff was all her life, but it turns out she has Level 2 Super Cheat Powers.

Placards are generally firmly attached, even screwed on, how could they blow off in the wind?

I think rather than metal plates screwed into the barrels, they're supposed to be standing placards placed next to the barrel (or perhaps on top of, or hanging from the spiggot). Regardless, it's clearly just there to give her something to do in the side story. I'll give it a bit of a pass because it's a side story, which doesn't have room to set up anything properly.

Just started reading this volume, but it suddenly feels like the author (narrator?) is making a lot more references to modern day japan. Yes, Emily is technically a reincarnator, but she isn't even in the scenes, nor or we reading from her perspective.

"The Committee of 300"? Oh. She's Cid.

I don’t read the book summaries around here, so I wasn’t expecting this volume to wrap up the series when I started reading it (but the book’s story progression was at least somewhat hinting at it)...

Awww… I dropped a couple of tears during the last couple of parts. ;_; Of course Tutte couldn’t stay dead and Mary couldn’t become a “normal” girl. That would have been too abnormal.

Goodbye, Mary & Co.! :)

@Libri-Liberorum Actually that might be right. I remember Bel saying something along the lines of "make sure you have all 8 of your children so that I'm born!", but didn't actually say which of those children was her mother.

The entire premise of this story is that a redo of high school would be beneficial for the protagonist and the people around him. It's interesting to me that the author is now directly questioning that premise.

I thought the time travel and parallel worlds part of this story would be glossed over, and now it's something that Hibara is directly talking about and making choices about.

What are the stakes exactly? I think the original timeline continues no matter what. Is the choice presented whether to also continue the new branch timeline? What options are possible?

Really curious to see how it's going to end. I hope it won't disappoint.
With this, Haibara and Kimizero ending soon, I hope Imouza will puck up the pace to partially fill the void.

@Cryten I’m pretty sure mithril and orichalchum are the “gold” and “silver” he found. Do you know if they mentioned it past book 4? That’s how far I got so far. If you made it to the end of that book, you probably know why i’m asking

I'll commend the author on having Shiora take over some id Fialka's role. Indeed, I had conflated them so perfectly I remembered they're different people when I read the afterword. The cast is growing steadily and weekly parts aren't helping. But still, I love this novel.

Schlock Mercenary: If you aren't willing to shell your own position, you aren't willing to win.

The second half of the volume was the best this series offered so far with plenty of action and a climatic battle. Not sure how it's going to continue other than the obvious save Mia arc but I hope it will stay interesting.
