I had gotten behind on this and now getting to get caught up. Just finished volume 10.

Now that Marguerite has joined their party, and their stories about how the original 3-person party formed described what their roles were within that party, it occurs to me that they now have a party that almost exactly mirrors Belgrieve's old party. There's a person in each of the same roles.

Percival = Angeline = the front line fighter that brute forces their way through everything
Satie = Marguerite = the front line fighter that also brute forces their way through everything and happens to be an elf
Kasim = Merry = the support mage
Belgrieve = Anne = the brains of the group keeping track of their surroundings and providing tactics

As long as the series features adult Sousuke trying to teach the kids self defense, how to use firearms and guerrilla warfare because you'll never know when you'll need those skills, causing adult Kaname tons of headaches, Family would be a must read for me. I hope both the main series and the short stories sold well enough for JNC to consider licensing more FMP material.

Man, I love this bit of the story, but what in the world possessed the author to include that goofy A side story right after such an emotional moment?
Like, I went from goosebumps to mild amusement at best, why wind us down after a cliffhanger that perfect?

@Lily-Garden Oh yes, I think that was it! They'd licensed material out from other Japanese companies to put in the 6.5 book, so J-Novel would have had to sublicense from them on top of licensing the book itself.

So basically, her item box range is only limited by whether or not she can think of the target location. She is entirely capable of taking things out of her item box inside someone's body. She can probably cut things in half with it too.

Her potion-making ability is kinda... not limited to potions whatsoever. They can be magical, or just mundane food/water. And she can create sword...shaped potion bottles.

All together, she has the power of "your head a splode".

If the topography of her chest actually bothers her, she could always make a boobs potion.

I wonder how the "keikaku means plan" line worked in Japanese.

What's she making lead oxide containers for? Those are poisonous.

Yeah.
He carefully blocks all mention of himself from his forum searches and such, and remains oblivious to his own impact.
But his monsters?
He can get their being famous.
And he thinks of them as real, so something that would allow them to remain as active as they are, rather than being limited in their actions during his offline time while working, there's potential there.
Good idea.

Sorry for the belated reply! In Japanese, this name is Shenryu, a katakana gloss on the kanji 深緑. We used the umlaut because, as you say, it’s a different sound from plain ol’ u. We’ve used Pinyin and quasi-Pinyin romanizations for a few names, and this was one of them. (Lihua would be another example.)

As far as the broader question of sounds that don’t exist in the target language, when dealing with a source in Japanese, I think most examples would be like this one—a situation where the original is representing a sound from a third language that doesn’t exist in English. By and large, most native Japanese sounds have fairly ready equivalents in English and don’t need much in the way of diacritics. (The only real exception I can think of might be a voiced e on the end of certain words like 萌え or 酒, where you might choose to render them as moé and saké so English readers know the E isn’t silent—however, I don’t think that’s widely favored in the industry at the moment.)

In fairness, he's from a culture without TV, movies, or anything close to the number of fiction books we have, so he has no roadmap to tell him how to be the fake corrupt bishop that lets the rest of the church remain pure. He's winging it and has cast away any subtlety for the role, but it seems to be succeeding. The right people like Will can see through it while the corrupt are fooled.

That was a rather long title for the author’s next writing exercise. Not atypical for a light novel, though. :)

Poor captain. "Who the hell is this Miabel person? Citrine I can handle. Sure, she's a duke's daughter and the fact that she's walking around alone is stressful, but at least I know what she is. Miabel acts like a VIP and looks like Mia's close relative, yet I have no information about her whatsoever. The fact that I don't know what kind of VIP she is only makes it more terrifying."

The MC's inability to mentally grasp all the favorable turns of fortune in his favor has largely described what it was like reading this volume to me; it's so heavily leaned into the power fantasy to the point where it's simply unrealistic to keep up with it, yet the setting demands for even more. I do appreciate a little that they put some awareness to the MC's mentals not being able to keep up with his skills, but the setting itself doesn't acknowledge it and keeps pegging him on... who's to say there won't be some kind of abuse of power to happen this time around?

I won't deny the possibility that this kind of setting really elevates how much I attempt to expect out of the story, and that I have a tendency to refrain from popular things, but I don't think following fads is always a good idea... though for the majority and for their circumstances that might actually be the best approach, due to how the content is treated. There's just so much that can go on in a fantasy setting... and even moreso if video game elements are implemented into the setting; I don't see them as comfort as much as it is a flawed nostalgia, but it's a big word where we live our lives among so many different kinds of experiences.
