I know a few of you talked about how the miscommunication between the leads gets frustrating, but personally, I didn't mind. It fit the characters perfectly, and seems like something for them to get through together.
Xixu is wonderfully supportive of anything Sari decides to do, he just can't express it well; and Sari, it seems, was brought up with a mindset of having to always be perfect, refined, with her emotions under control, which is deeply unhealthy and prevents her from speaking out honestly.
It was striking how even Thoma, who's otherwise close to Sari, doesn't really understand her and still pushes that sort of mindset onto her; and it had to be Eid, the one who understands the ways of the town but hates everything about it, who would reach out to Sari when she (or at least a part of her) needed it.
Speaking of Eid, he was the worst in the first volume, but leaving Irede behind did wonders for him, and he really calmed down and became a rather sympathetic character, didn't he?
