I just finished volume 1 of The Great Cleric and was pleasantly surprised. The anime almost lead me astray with its portrayal but the story is more palatable as a novel than as an anime to me. So I will continue reading the books (and hopefully finish before month's end) and stop watching the anime.

That happens way too often. Off the top of my head:

Abilities Average - dropped the best part of the humor, of Mile believing she's cleverly convinced everyone that's she's perfectly normal, replaced it with stupid gags of her flying into a rage. Also skipped one of the best early arcs, the hunter school Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear (both seasons) - speedruns the content, skipping a lot of the humor, depth, and the quieter bits with Yuna and the kids. They even messed with the picture books. Smartphone - skipped a lot of the content where Touya was training, learning, and building things ahead of time to somewhat earn his OPness Death March - did a poor job of conveying that Satou's main goal was to have fun as a tourist and take care of his wards, not be a hero or solve the world's problems Master of Ragnarok - made it seem like the MC's only skill is looking up things on Google

I've reached the point where I hesitate to watch the anime for a LN I enjoy since I expect to be annoyed by the changes and cut content.

I just finished volume 4 of Zero Believers.

and now Volume 5... and half that stuff I gushed about it got tossed on its head. But the writing style is still fun, and I'm enjoying the hell out of reading it.

I managed to finish volume 7, so I made it in time. Volume 9 is current, but Volume 8 is still in pre-pub until July 17, so I have a couple weeks to catch the rest of the way up.

I managed to get through everything that I really wanted to read this last month.

I have observed that if I manage to read all catchup series I am interested in before the end of the month, the new ones are released on the 3rd or 4th of the month. When I am struggling for time to finish a volume or two, the new monthly catch-ups arrive on the 1st crisp.

I may have gotten to sleep really late for me because I wanted to finish Volume 2 of Deathbound Duke's Daughter....

@geetop

Hello,

They are set to change today, we appreciate everyone's patience until the changeover can happen.

Thank you

edit: it happened

I am pleased to mention that I was able to finish Altina the Sword Princess and awaiting V15 whenever it should show up.

One of us!

Reminder that catchups will be changing on March 1 around noon-ish US time, so 1 week left to finish catching up!

So I've bought all of By the Grace of the Gods, and have just finished Volume 6.
I'd have to look through my various files where I've kept track of my reading progress to be sure, but I believe I was reading the fan translation at one time; Volume One was just too familiar in too many ways.

ETA:
Finished.
Eagerly awaiting the licensing of Volume 12, released in Japan in late 2022...

@endoftheline That actually was set up, even if only in passing back near the start of the series.

"You'll need language and crafting skills. I can also throw in some fighting skills for your self-defense. As a tradeoff, you'll have the bare minimum in magical ability, but you won't need it for day-to-day life anyway. What do you think?"
"Sounds good to me."

Admittedly, the actual combat skill he ended up with would seem rather disproportionate to its description...

@Geezer-Weasalopes

I'm looking forward to Volume 5 of Redefining the Meta at the VRMMO Academy.

I might re-read the first 4 volumes now that they are on catch-up.

Hooray for rescues!

Just a note for our members, catchups will be changing on Monday, October 3, since the first of the month is on a weekend and we unfortunately have not created an automated system for it yet!

Thank you for the heads up and what you said makes a ton of sense. It's unfortunate because I thought it was a great series. Nice character development compared to most titles out, character grind versus OPed from day one, enough fan service, and a nice balance between comedy and seriousness.

I hope the creator attempts to make a sequel one day.

Just a reminder that catchups will be changing next Monday! Better finish reading July's selection before they're gone!

@myskaros was just checking the forums to see what was up. Thanks for the advanced warning even I was blind to it until now 😂

Hope everyone at the convention has time to enjoy it while they are there and it's not all fun-filled work.

@xdrfiredogx Haha indeed, it's the perfect descriptor for the likes of Epic Movie or Meet the Spartans.

To parody isekai you have to be an isekai of course so I can't guarantee it'll be for you. That's the beauty of the catchups of course though. I have several series I'm now purchasing premiums for that I wouldn't even have considered buying if they were from another publisher. I'd say the first 4 or 5 parts of volume 1 would give anyone a pretty clear idea whether it's to their tastes or not.

You've got about a week and a half to finish reading April's catchups! May catchups will be coming on Monday, May 2, around 10 AM PDT/1700 UTC!

@georgemto same for by the grace of god, Seirei Gensouki and the other 2 seasons of bookworm ? The first one being the light novel and the 2nd season being the manga. They usually started right before or right after the new season. So either April or May. I buy them anyways as in my opinion bookworm is easily the best light novel period.

I wholeheartedly recommend Slightly Older Girlfriend.

Sorry for the late reminder, but catchups will be changing on Tuesday, February 1, around 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST / 1900 UTC! One day it'll all be automatic, but until that amazing future arrives, you'll have to continue dealing with manual switchovers that are affected by meetings and vacation and forgetfulness and all that jazz ;o

I'd been dubious about A Very Fairy Apartment, but a couple of days ago I said to myself, I said, "Hey. It's free just now."

What a lie that was.
It's only "free" if you don't go out afterwards and purchase the whole series...

I think my dubiosity was a result of being a major fan of Rokujouma, and somehow having a block on the idea that there could be other Worthy Works with a bunch of goofballs invading someone's apartment.
Dunno.
Whatever my concern had been, it was totally bogus.

A Very Fairy Apartment is very silly, and very well done.
