Giving this my upvote/bump. It's quite surprising that the series has never been fully published in English. Just a few groups that did parts of it while it was still ongoing in Japan. Would be nice to be able to own all the volumes. (DRM-Free)
That's the downside of a true slice of life story I suppose, no big hook or novelty factor like ReLife had.
The only goal or overarching plot is mentioned right there in the synopsis in the first post - four screw ups trying to prevent having to repeat a year. People will either dig the whole coming of age thing of them working & growing together or find it boring as hell.
The MC starts off really weak too, they needed to flesh him out more way earlier than they did. Until we got those extra details of his backstory I didn't find him sympathetic at all & was more interested in all the other characters.
Came to especially find if anyone had recommended Tokyo Crazy Paradise - I’ve bought this in Japanese (which I can’t read unfortunately) just to support it, and every time this manga comes up on blogs or message boards there’s always multiple people wishing for an English release
I've seen several variations on this theme, where mechanics/rules/magic create situations (Love Tyrant, If Her Flag Breaks, etc.) As long as the gimmick isn't distracting, and the content/story is compelling - I say 'yes'
overall JNC is lacking in romcoms
lighthearted, cute, funny? all good things
if the underlying message is that it is "OK" for girls to be humans with desires also (anti-slut shaming) that's a plus
get's my upvote
I've heard that the anime followed the manga fairly well, they probably missed some side stories due to time constraints, probably more in the www.working!! as it only had 1 season to cover 6 volumes while working!! got 3 seasons to cover 13.
